Sikhio Sandstone Historical Quarry

This area is a mound of coarse sandstone at Khao Hoeb encompassing an area of approximately 1,000 square meters. One can see pot-shaped depressions or potholes of many sizes, such as 165 centimeters in diameter by 120 centimeters deep and 240 cm in diameter by 50 centimeters in depth. In some areas of the sandstone, there are grooves where stone blocks have already been removed, while in other areas parallel grooves have been carved into the sandstone, but the blocks had not yet been cut out and removed. In addition to this, there is another rock quarry site nearby in the area of Khao Hin Tat (Stone Cutting Hill) Forest Temple covering an area of approximately 1,600 square meters. This site is similar to the first site but has grooves indicating that a greater number of stone blocks had been removed. Some blocks had been cut out and moved from their original location but had not been removed from the general site.
