Wat Pa Phu Pha Sung
This site is on a sandstone ridge with the shape of an E-to, a cleaver knife, or which is called a cuesta. A cuesta has one side that is steep while the other side is sloping. This ridge is part of a continuous cuesta that extends along the Khorat Plateau reaching Phu Phan with a length of 1,740 kilometers. From the ridge of the cliff at Wat Pa (Forest Temple) Phu Pha Sung is a beautiful view of the valley below. In some areas, along the surface of the rocks, one can see trace fossils of ancient animals, burrowing worms from 140 million years ago. The burrows were formed from activities of the animals in the soil, such as building living spaces and searching for food, with animals of different species digging tunnels and burrowing for food in different ways.
