The Lushan UGGp management team provided Dr. Duangkrayom with a special visit to the historic "Bai Lu Dong Shu Yuan Academy" (White Deer Cave Academy - 白鹿洞书院), located at the foot of Mount Lushan.

December 6, 2025, Representative of Khorat UGGp executive board, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jaroon Duangkrayom, Deputy Director, conducted an official visit and held high-level discussions with the management team of Lushan UGGp, China, led by Cui Ming, Director and Hu Wenwen, Manager. Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Hantangang River UGGp, Korea, last October, to exchange knowledge on Geopark management, educational activities, and the development of Thailand-China geotourism.

The discussions focused on solidifying joint activities under the framework of the MoU, leading to the following points of cooperation:

1) Educational Collaboration: Establishing exchange programs for students and faculty, including student internships, utilizing both Lushan and Khorat as practical field bases. This initiative will be conducted in partnership with the respective university networks of both Geoparks.

2) Activity Development: Creating joint educational and tourism products and activities.

3) Communication Strategy: Developing shared online communication channels to ensure continuous cooperation and relationship building.

Following the productive discussions, the Lushan UGGp management team provided Dr. Duangkrayom with a special visit to the historic "Bai Lu Dong Shu Yuan Academy" (White Deer Cave Academy - 白鹿洞书院), located at the foot of Mount Lushan.

The academy is historically recognized as a key institution for preparing scholars for the Imperial Examination (the Jū Rén and Jìn Shì exams), particularly flourishing during the Song Dynasty until the end of the Qing Dynasty. The academy’s significance lies in its role as a center for advanced education, teaching ancient philosophy, literature, and academic writing necessary for the civil service examinations.

This visit successfully opened new avenues for linking geological heritage with profound cultural history, paving the way for unique educational programs under the new partnership.
