Assistant Professor Dr. Nattinee Thongdee, Deputy Director of the Korat Global Geopark, participated in an international seminar and capacity-building program in Indonesia.

14 August 2026, Asst.Prof.Dr. Nattinee Thongdee, Deputy Director of Khorat UNESCO Global Geopark had the honor of participating in the International Seminar and Capacity Building Session hosted by Merangin Jambi UNESCO Global Geopark (MJUGGp) in Jambi Province, Indonesia.

The seminar brought together international geopark practitioners from the Asia-Pacific region and national policy stakeholders to foster dialogue and knowledge exchange. Representing Khorat UNESCO Global Geopark, our management team shared insights during Session I on “Community-Based Geotourism in ASEAN Geoparks: Local Culture as a Geopark Asset,” highlighting how local culture and community livelihoods can be successfully integrated into geotourism development.

The event featured two comprehensive sessions covering macro policy frameworks, regional practices, and international UNESCO standards. Session I focused on policy and regional practices with contributions from the Regent of Merangin, the Ministry of Tourism, Bappenas, Khorat Geopark, and Aso UNESCO Global Geopark (Japan). Session II highlighted international perspectives presented by Evaluators Prof. Dr. Yongmun Jeon and Mr. Nicolas Klee, who shared valuable lessons on geotourism planning, management, and public outreach.
