The UNESCO Global Geopark Ries welcomed a distinguished visitor at the end of June: Her Royal Highness, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, traveled to the Ries Crater to personally experience its unique geological and cultural diversity.

The princess, who is deeply interested in geoscience, undertook a private tour to explore the UNESCO Global Geopark Ries, whose region was once formed by a cosmic catastrophe. She was accompanied by her staff, as well as by District Administrator Stefan Rößle (First Chairman of Geopark Ries e.V.) and the Managing Director of Geopark Ries e.V., Heike Burkhardt, and her team.

The program included the Ries Crater Museum Nördlingen, the Geopark Ries Adventure Geotope Lindle, Harburg Castle, the Celtic World at Ipf near Bopfingen, and the Aumühle quarry owned by the Märker company (recognized as one of "Bavaria's 100 Most Beautiful Geotopes").

District Administrator Stefan Rößle expressed his appreciation for the exceptional interest shown by the Thai princess. "The visit of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn once again underscores the international importance of the UNESCO Global Geopark Ries. The cultural and scientific exchange fostered by such encounters is of great value to all parties."
