A large ancient shipwreck lay sunken in the riverbed of the Mun River near the Mun Ma Dan Rath Bridge. In 2016, during a severe drought, the boat wreckage was exposed above the water surface. Villagers from Moo 10, Ma Dạn Rath Village, Tha Chang Sub-district, Chalerm Phra Kiat District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, brought the wreckage to the shore on April 18, 2016. The ship has a length of 13.5 meters and a width of 3 meters. It is thought that the ship was made of Ironwood (scientific name: Hopea odorata). This ship has the characteristics of a cargo boat because the hull is wide and deep. It is assumed that the boat  was heading from Ubon Ratchathani Province to the port at Tha Chang in order to load cargo onto carts  for transportation to Nakhon Ratchasima City, during 1882 – 1893 or in the reign of King Rama 5.
